After the success of the first event in Birmingham we quickly dashed up the M1 to Aspers casino in Newcastle for number two in April 2008.
The fantastic facilities at Aspers enabled a main event capacity of 230, which was duly filled, and a prizepool (including the usual £5000 added by Virgin) topping £29,000! The poker was intense and there was a titanic final table including the likes of Lucy Rokash and Shelley Rubenstein but it was a local lad, Darren Laverick, who took it down for £7,500.
More records were broken at the bar where the Virgin players exceeded themselves by drinking the casino dry over two days of hard labour - well done all!
