Sit and Go Poker

Playing Sit and Go Tournament Poker

Sit & go's are unscheduled tournaments that begin once the required number of players have paid the buy in to enter the tournament. Your buy in will be converted into chips and who ever finishes with all the chips is the winner. On Virgin Poker you can play with varying different numbers of starting players; two, five, ten, twenty or thirty players. Sit & Go's are great tournaments if you do not have a huge amount of time to spare and prefer to have a great chance of finishing within the cash prizes.

As in all poker tournaments, players will have a seat assigned to them once the tourney begins and they may not leave the table at any point (unlike cash games).

Multi Table

If you choose a Sit & Go tournament with 20 or 30 players the tournament will be played on more than one table. If, for example, you are playing in a 20 player tournament once there is a total of 10 players still in, the table will ‘breakup.' This means that the remaining players will be moved to one table. Multi table sit & go offer larger prize pools due to the larger number of players.

Heads Up

Heads up games are simply two players playing against each other. The winning player will take all of the cash.

Satellites

It is also possible to have a satellite sit & go. This means that a player can qualify from one sit & go and be entered into a subsequent tournament with a much larger prize pool.

Payout

Virgin Poker offer differing payout structures which will appeal to all types of player depending on the risk they wish to undertake.

Standard Hold'em

  • 5 man table:
top 2 finishes win money
  • 10 man table:
top 3 finishers win money
  • 20 man table:
top 4 finishers win money
  • 30 man table:
top 5 finishers win money

The other options are:

  • Winner takes all:
an option for 5 man tables
  • Cooler:
an option for 10 man tables. The top 5 positions all double their money
  • Pays 4:
an option for 10 man tables. The top 4 positions each earn cash.

Names to look out for

To cater for players who prefer faster play and hence shorter tournaments there are some quicker options that you will find

  • Turbo:
These games offer less time for players to make a decision
  • Speed:
Speed games also force a shorter length of tournament because the blinds increase at a faster rate.
